The details
Pack it for the trail. Keep it packed by the door.
A 60-litre trekking pack with room for three days of gear, a rain cover that lives in its own pocket, and a separate compartment for your sleeping bag. The padded hip belt takes the weight onto your hips, not your shoulders. Take it on a multi-day hike, or keep it packed as a go-bag for the day you have to leave in a hurry.
Where everything goes
- Lid pocket for the map, headlamp and keys.
- Main compartment for the tent, clothes and food.
- Front zip panel for the layer you'll want first.
- Sleeping-bag compartment with its own zip at the base, so you can reach it without unpacking.
- 2 hip-belt pockets for a phone and snacks, without stopping.
- 2 side mesh pockets for bottles, held by compression straps.
Carry it for hours
- Curved, padded shoulder straps and a padded hip belt with a wide buckle.
- Sternum strap with a whistle built into the buckle.
- Padded mesh back panel that lets air move.
- Hydration port for a drinking tube; the water bladder is not included.
Strap more on the outside
- Straps under the base for a sleeping pad, straps on top for a sleeping bag.
- Pole loops and side compression straps for trekking poles.
Rain cover included
Pull the orange cover out of its pocket at the base and stretch it over the whole pack. The pack's own fabric isn't rated waterproof, so in real rain the cover is what keeps your gear dry. Bright orange, so you're easy to spot too.
Seen in the dark
Two reflective strips and a reflective tab on the front catch headlamps and car lights, for the walk back along the road after dark.

Before you buy
What's in the box?
The backpack and its orange rain cover, stored in the pocket at the base. The tent, sleeping bag, poles, bottle and other gear in the photos are not included.
Is it waterproof?
The fabric isn't rated waterproof. That's what the rain cover is for: it goes over the whole pack in a minute. For electronics or a down sleeping bag, add a dry bag inside.
Can I take it on a plane as carry-on?
Usually not. It's 30.3 in tall, and most airlines cap carry-on bags at about 22 in. Plan to check it in, with the straps tightened.
60L or 70L: which pack should I get?
Take this 60L if you want structure: a separate sleeping-bag compartment, a zip lid and hip-belt pockets. Take the 70L if you want the most room for the least weight and like packing from the top.
