The details

News, light and power when the grid quits

The Cairnlight is a hand crank radio with the NOAA weather band, AM and FM, a 20,000 mAh power bank, a three-mode flashlight and a fold-up reading lamp in one rugged block. It is built for power outages, storm season, the car and the go-bag: the moments when you need forecasts, light and a charged phone, and the wall outlet is no help. Recharge it from USB-C, the sun or the crank.

NOAA weather radio plus AM and FM

  • NOAA weather band tunes 162.400 to 162.550 MHz, where US weather stations broadcast forecasts and alerts around the clock, so you hear what the storm is doing.
  • AM and FM AM 520 to 1710 kHz and FM 87 to 108 MHz keep local news and talk coming when cell service is jammed or down.
  • Simple analog dial turn to tune, turn to set the volume. No menus to learn in the dark.
  • 3.5 mm headphone jack listen privately at night without waking the house.

Three ways to recharge

  • USB-C from the wall fill the battery before the storm so the radio is ready on the shelf.
  • Solar panel on top set it in the sun to trickle charge during a long outage.
  • Fold-out hand crank wind it when there is no sun and no outlet left, so you are never fully out of power.

Light where you need it

  • Three beam modes far, low and mixed beam at 160, 600 and 680 lux (maker's figures) light up paths, rooms and work.
  • Fold-up reading lamp a 100 lux panel on the back for reading, cooking or a dark hallway, without blinding anyone.
  • Long run time over 100 hours of flashlight or reading light on a full charge (maker's figure), so one charge covers several nights.

An emergency radio that charges your phone

The 20,000 mAh battery (maker's figure) doubles as a power bank. Plug your phone into the USB port to keep calls, messages and maps going while the power is out. When it runs low, top the radio back up with sun or crank.

Built to grab and go

  • SOS mode one button sets off a 120 dB alarm and flashing light to draw attention when you need help (maker's figure).
  • Survival strap the carry strap holds a compass and a small cutting blade, so the basics hang right on the handle.
  • Splash resistant IPX3 rated (maker's figure) for rain and spray, in a ribbed plastic shell with rubber end caps.

Before you buy

Does a hand crank radio work without batteries?

This one has a built-in rechargeable battery and needs no disposable batteries. The hand crank and the solar panel charge that battery, so you can keep listening even when the power is out and there is no outlet.

Can this emergency radio charge my phone?

Yes. The built-in 20,000 mAh battery works as a power bank. Plug your phone into the USB port with your own cable to charge it.

Will the NOAA weather band work where I live?

The weather band receives the 162.400 to 162.550 MHz channels used by NOAA Weather Radio in the US. Reception depends on your distance from the nearest transmitter. Outside areas served by these broadcasts, use AM and FM instead.

Can I use it in the rain?

It is rated IPX3 by the maker, which covers rain and splashes. It is not waterproof, so keep it out of standing water and dry it off after heavy rain.

How do I use the SOS mode?

Press the SOS button to start the alarm and flashing light. Press it again to stop. It is loud, so use it only when you need to draw attention.

How long does delivery take?

We ship from Yiwu, China within 1–2 business days. Delivery takes 5–10 business days after that, so 6–12 business days in total. Shipping is free. US import duties, if any, are not included. Shipping policy

Can I return it?
