The details
When the grid goes quiet, you don't
The Ridgecall is a hand crank radio with AM, FM and the NOAA weather band, a zoom flashlight and a 2,000 mAh battery that can top up your phone. It is made for power outages, storm season, the car and the go-bag, and keeps working when there is no outlet. Charge it from the sun, the crank or a USB-C cable.
Three ways to power up
- Solar panel on top adds charge slowly in daylight, so the radio keeps going with no outlet nearby.
- Fold-out hand crank lets you add power by hand, day or night, with no cable and no batteries.
- USB-C charging is the fastest way to fill the battery before storm season or a trip.
- AAA battery backup flip the front switch to run on regular AAA batteries (not included) when you have them.
Hear what is happening
- NOAA weather band tunes 162.400 to 162.550 MHz, the channels NOAA uses for US weather broadcasts, so you hear forecasts and warnings.
- AM and FM pull in local news and music through the built-in speaker when the TV and internet are down.
- Telescoping antenna extends for clearer reception and slides away when you pack the radio.
Light and a backup for your phone
- Zoom LED flashlight twist the bezel from a wide pool of light to a focused beam to find your way in the dark.
- Flip-up reading lamp lights a table, a tent or a page without blinding anyone.
- 2,000 mAh battery sends a top-up to your phone through the USB port, enough to make a call or send one more message.
- SOS alarm button sounds a loud alarm so the people around you can find you.
Small enough to always have
At about 6 inches long and roughly 1 lb packed, it fits a kitchen drawer, a glovebox, a day pack or a go-bag. The wrist strap lets you hang it from a pack or a hook, so it is ready the moment the lights go out.
Emergency radio for storms and outages
- At home keep it with the candles and water so you have news, light and a phone top-up in the first hour of an outage.
- In the car a solar radio in the glovebox charges itself on the dashboard and needs no spare batteries.
- On the trail and at camp check the weather band before you head out and use the lamp at camp after dark.

Before you buy
Does a hand crank radio work without batteries?
Yes. The crank and the solar panel charge the radio's built-in rechargeable battery, so you do not need spare batteries. If you have AAA batteries, you can also flip the front switch and run it on those.
Can this emergency radio charge my phone?
Yes. Plug your phone's charging cable into the radio's USB port. The 2,000 mAh battery gives a partial top-up, meant to keep your phone going for calls and messages, not to fully recharge it.
Does it pick up NOAA weather radio?
Yes. The weather band covers 162.400 to 162.550 MHz, the channels NOAA uses for weather broadcasts in the US. Reception depends on your distance to a transmitter, so extend the antenna and try it at home first.
How do I charge the radio itself?
Use the USB-C cable for the fastest charge, the solar panel in daylight, or the hand crank anytime. Charge it fully when it arrives and top it up every few months so it is ready when you need it.
Is it waterproof?
No. It has no water rating, so keep it dry and bring it inside or cover it in rain.
How long does delivery take?
We ship from Yiwu, China within 1–2 business days. Delivery takes 5–10 business days after that, so 6–12 business days in total. Shipping is free. US import duties, if any, are not included. Shipping policy

Yes, within 14 days of delivery, unused and in its original packaging. Email us first; you pay the return postage to China, and we refund within 10 business days of receiving it. Returns policy
